Join Archer’s Tavern in Centerville on Monday for FUNICULAR DAY! They use Funicular Day to drink great beer, hangout with friends (old and new!), think about funiculars and celebrate life!

According to Wikipedia A funicular is a type of cable railway system that connects points along a railway track laid on a steep slope. The system is characterized by two counterbalanced carriages (also called cars or trains) permanently attached to opposite ends of a haulage cable, which is looped over a pulley at the upper end of the track.
The result of such a configuration is that the two carriages move synchronously: as one ascends, the other descends at an equal speed. This feature distinguishes funiculars from inclined elevators, which have a single car that is hauled uphill.

Funicular day started back in 2004 when Yancy Cottrill and his buddies were drinking beer and watching funiculars on a hillside in Kiev, Ukraine. They determined it was the most awesome day ever and turned it into a holiday! We have celebrated the holiday by tapping a bunch of great beers and featuring funiculars for the day since we opened in 2010!

Here’s what’s on tap for FUNICULAR DAY:

Alesmith Speedway Stout – This special addition of Alesmith’s signature coffee stout has a milky sweetness with Madagascar vanilla beans, Ceylon Alba cinnamon, and notes of chocolate. ABV 12%

Branch and Bone Seasonal Friend – Blackberry/Peach Cobbler inspired beer brewed with blackberry and peach purée, graham cracker, vanilla, and cinnamon. ABV 5%

Grainworks Brewer’s Breakfast – Limited Release! Grainworks uses a Guatemala/Sumatra coffee blend to perfectly complement this bold Imperial Oatmeal Stout. As it warms, the added cocoa comes through to fold in a subtle, pleasant sweetness. ABV 8%

Masthead Flat Earth – Masthead threw brewing science to the curb and added an unbelievable amount of hops at every step of the process, including a double dry hop with Pacific Sunrise. ABV 8%
