They’ll share their thoughts on work/life balance. Is it a myth or is it achievable? \n  \nCory Earl is president and publisher of the Dayton Business Journal (DBJ)\, the Dayton region’s source for local business news and events\, part of the American City Business Journals (ACBJ) nationwide network. He began his ACBJ career as an account executive with the DBJ in 2010. He was twice named to ACBJ’s Chairman’s Club and later promoted to senior account executive taking over responsibility of the sales internship program among other duties. In 2017\, he was promoted to advertising director leading his team to several consecutive ACBJ Eagle Awards and was appointed to the role of president and publisher in September 2021. Cory is a current board member of the Downtown Dayton Partnership and Destination Dayton\, as well as a proud graduate of the Leadership Dayton class of 2020. He has served the local community through several organizations including South Community Behavioral Health\, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society\, TEDx Dayton and United Way of Greater Dayton. Cory’s a graduate of Wright State University. \n  \nEmily Broughton is also a graduate of Wright State University and the founding director of development and external relations at Bottom Line Ohio\, a non-profit that helps first-generation students from under-resourced backgrounds get into college\, graduate and go far in life. She’s served on multiple community boards\, including the Women’s Board of Dayton Children’s Hospital\, the Wright State Alumni Boards\, as co-chair of the YWCA’s Women of Influence\, and on the Culture Works and Public Relations Society of Dayton boards. She has served on multiple area non-profit committees and is a member of the Dayton Rotary. Her career has spanned different industries\, including grocery store marketing\, non-profit event planning\, public and media relations and educational marketing and development. In her work at Cox Media Group\, she wrote and won multiple award nominations for owned media categories\, including a Country Music Award\, an American Country Music Award\, a Crystal Award and multiple Gracie Awards. She was awarded as a Top 25 Women to Watch in 2024 by the BBB’s Women in Business Networking program. His short thirty-three years of life were filled with literary achievement and contributions that catapulted him to national and international fame and appreciation. \nThe President of Wilberforce University and the Wilberforce University Choir rendered the first graveside tribute to Paul Laurence Dunbar in the year of 1906. In 1988\, five Dunbar devotees found themselves standing in front of Mr. Dunbar’s grave on the day of his death to pay their respects. The five decided to collectively commemorate Dunbar’s date of death in the future and thus established an annual graveside tribute. \nThrough the years\, the Dayton Dunbar Alumni Association\, the National Park Service\, Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum and community volunteers have continued to support the annual tribute. It is through the efforts of LaVerne Sci\, a Dunbar scholar who once served as the Dunbar House site manager\, that the annual tribute is still celebrated. \n“Dunbar wrote with Dayton as his solid foundation and as his reference\,” stated Mrs. Sci. “It was in Dayton that he found his richest and greatest experiences and all the elements of beauty and joy that he enjoyed.” \nThe Annual Paul Laurence Dunbar Graveside Tribute will begin with a gathering at the grave site of Mr. Dunbar at 10:00 a.m. where a laying of a wreath will take place. A short program of readings and stories will then follow inside the Woodland Mausoleum given by devoted friends of Paul Laurence Dunbar. \nThe event is free and open to the public. All are invited to both the graveside and Mausoleum services. Woodland Cemetery is located at 118 Woodland Avenue off of Brown Street in Dayton. Participants may gather at the front entrance of the Mausoleum at 9:45 a.m. for a processional to the Dunbar grave.
