DESCRIPTION:Red Shoes Dayton 25 has the honor of representing the Midwest in commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.\nThis compelling\, symbolic art exhibit will be held at the Downtown Dayton Metro Library in their beautiful Atrium\, from November 21-25\, 2025. Each pair of Red Shoes was painted for this exhibit by survivors of violence\, local artists and supporters. We stand with them to bring awareness\, protest violence\, and to pause to reflect.\nThe public ceremony will commence on November 22\, 2025 at 2pm\, and will include the reading of our proclamation from the City of Dayton by Neenah Ellis\, a reading of the Poem “These Shoes” and atribute played by cellist Tara Mar.\n“25 Red Shoes” was originally launched in 2009 by international artist Elina Chauvet’s influential art installation “Zapatos Rojos”\, to bring awareness and protest Domestic Violence after her own sister died in an act of violence inflicted by her husband. It has since become a global event\, with installations in international cities worldwide.\nGlobally\, 140 women and girls are killed by a family member or intimate partner every day. 17% of those murders take place in the United States. 29% of women in the US have reported a form of violence.\nThis event is free and open to all. DESCRIPTION:25 Red Shoes Installation Comes to Dayton in Commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women \nDayton\, Ohio — November 25\, 2025 — In tribute to the powerful “25 Red Shoes” art installation marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women\, Dayton will join with international cities for this installation of red shoes free on display at the Downtown Dayton Metro Library in their beautiful Atrium event November 21 – 25\, 2025 during normal open hours.  We look forward to our public ceremony at the library November 22\, 2025 from 2-3 p.m. to include a reading of our proclamation from the City of Dayton and a tribute played by cellist Tara Mar.  This event is free and open to all. \nThe red shoes\, each pair symbolizing a woman who is no longer able to walk the streets\, live her life\, or share her voice/ can no longer walk or speak\, so we stand for her.  This installation is inspired by international artist Elina Chauvet’s original 2009 piece “Zapatos Rojos”\, an international symbol of the movement against femicide and violence toward women and girls.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Dayton region’s largest service outing for early career professionals to “Get Out & Give Back.” \nEach year\, Generation Dayton\, the Dayton Area Chamber’s early career professionals program\, focuses its volunteer efforts on giving back to various non-profit organizations throughout the community. Generation Dayton Day gives attendees the opportunity to enjoy lunch\, network\, hear a presentation from a community leader and volunteer. \nThis year’s keynote speaker is Amanda DeLotelle\, Executive Director of Miami Valley Meals in Dayton\, Ohio. \nVolunteer sites will be selected at the kick-off by participants upon arrival at the Dayton Metro Library Main Branch. Volunteer spots at each site will be limited and are on a first-come\, first served basis. Participating organizations will be announced as the event approaches. \nGeneration Dayton Day is a day to give back to our community and meet new people through volunteerism. Therefore\, we encourage your team to break up into pairs and select various volunteer sites. If you are interested in volunteering as a large group with your team\, please reach out to us and we can connect you with our community partners.
