Adults Only Who’s Holiday Opens At The Loft Theatre

December 2, 2021 By Dayton937

If playwright Matthew Lombardo’s searing look at actress Tallulah Bankhead in Looped was the main course, then his spicy confection about Cindy Lou Who inWho’s Holiday! – playing this December at The Human Race – is the decadent dessert we have been waiting for.   Called a “raunchy riff on Dr. Seuss,” Who’s Holiday! is a wildly funny and heartfelt adult-only comedy about grown-up Cindy Lou Who, as she recalls that Christmas Eve when she first met the Grinch and the twisted turn of events her life has since taken.  Who’s Holiday! will fill the Loft Theatre with laughter, starting tonight and run through December 19, 2021.

“We have a bit of history of finding those off-center, holiday shows that make us laugh” states Human Race Artistic Director and Founding Member, Kevin Moore. “I recall the naughty elf in Santaland Diaries, and the crazy residents from A Tuna Christmas.  Who’s Holiday! continues this tradition.  It is definitely an irreverant, “adults-night-out.”

Actress Alex Sunderhaus (Cincinnati native – Wright State graduate – and last appeared on the Loft stage as the loveable dog Sylvia) is taking on the bottle-blond role of Cindy Lou Who, as she prepares for a holiday party in her trailer just outside of Whoville, and reminisces about that fateful Christmas eve.

Who’s Holiday! is directed by Human Race Resident Artist and Wright State Artistic Director Joe Deer.  Our Production Stage Manager is Jacquelyn Duncan; Costume Design by Zoe Still;  Scenic Design by Scott J. Kimmins;  Lighting Design by John Rensel;  Sound Design by Alexander Koker.

Tickets are on sale through Dayton Live box office, 937-228-3630, or online at www.humanracetheatre.org  All audiences are required to wear masks.

Ohio Liquor Holding A Baker’s Single Barrel Select Lottery

December 1, 2021 By Dayton937

Ohio Liquor is proud to release two, hand-selected 13-year-old single barrels of Baker’s Bourbon just in time for the holiday season. These two barrels, offered to Ohioans, are two of only 30 available in the entire U.S. this year!  In an effort to release these quickly for the holidays, Ohio Liquor is conducting a bonus lottery for a chance to purchase a bottle of Baker’s Single Barrel Select for $99.99 plus tax. Because this is a bonus bottle lottery, there are a couple of slight differences from our normal lotteries. There will be a shorter entry window, so don’t miss it! Entries will be accepted now must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 5.

There are a limited number of stores at which you can enter to win, adding to the bonus lottery experience. These 16 locations were hand picked to host this opportunity because they are good operators and have excellent customer experience. While you may enter any or all of the store lotteries listed, you are only eligible to win the right to purchase one bottle. Entries at additional locations will be voided once your name has been selected. For all the details, including how to enter, visit the OHLQ site.
Once you have submitted your entry, a six-digit ticket number will be displayed on the registration page and emailed to you after a successful submission. Keep that number handy as it will be used for verification if you win. Winners will be notified Wednesday, December 8, using the email address entered with their submissions. The list of winners and their corresponding ticket numbers will also be posted on our website.
You are only eligible to win the right to purchase one bottle and you must purchase the bottle at the location at which you won. No transfer requests will be accepted.
Required Entry Information:
  • Ohio Driver’s License Number / Ohio Identification Card Number
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Street Address
  • Date of Birth
  • Email Address
  • Preferred OHLQ store location for purchasing the product if you win

Clifton Mill Hosts Dayton Children’s Hospital Ambassadors

December 1, 2021 By Dayton937

For many years the owners of Clifton Mill have had a wonderful relationship with our friends at Dayton Children’s Hospital. During the Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill season, we welcome the hospital’s Ambassadors to be honorary ‘switch flippers’ which turn on 4.6 million lights. This is our way of adding additional ‘light’ to the lives of those battling health issues.

We invite the media to attend one or both honorary events.

Wednesday. December 1, 6pm, we welcome 11-year-old William McCoy III from Dayton. OH. He was born with sickle cell disease, in and out of the hospital battling like a champ. He is very academic and excels in his classes. FUN FACT: He recently created a comic book about sickle cell disease for other youngsters in the same situation.

Thursday, December 2, 6pm, we welcome 12-year-old Brody Heinrich from Englewood, OH. At the age of two, he was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis and also suffers from a rare auto-immune disease. To date, Brody had 17 surgeries, but doesn’t let it get him down. He is a social butterfly and loves to share his story with others. FUN FACT: He is a heck of a soccer player on a select team.

“We welcome both of these youngsters with open arms and hope to add a little brightness to their lives.” Said Jessica Noes, GM of Clifton Mill. “Our family has been touched by various types of cancers and this is our way of giving back to these fine young men and all the kids going through major health issues.” Added owner Anthony Satariano.

The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill gates open each evening at 5 pm. Precisely at 6 pm, with the flip of one switch, nearly 4.6 million lights come on at once transforming the night into a shimmering world of Christmas wonder.

For 34 years Clifton Mill has been lighting up Miami Valley winters during the Holiday Season. We are open 7 nights a week through December 30th.

The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill is an outdoor event and is weather permitting. Call beforehand (937) 767-5501. Admission is $10 per person, children 3 and under free. Concession Food is available. BEST TIME TO VISIT IS MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

Clifton is in Greene County, Ohio three miles east of Yellow Springs on State Rt. 343, six miles south of Springfield on State Rt. 72, and three miles north of Cedarville on Rt. 72.
