Indigo Life Has Pilot Streaming on Amazon

The pilot for Otherside was written six years ago and the pilot was filmed locally by Indigo Life Media in 2o21 during covid. The concept: A curious group of individuals explore the paranormal world – some believers, others not so sure. A mix of comedy and suspense. Hosted by comedian, Dionte Allen and paranormal investigator, Tim Debusk.

Indigo co-founder Andrew White explains that they loved the show and ran it on their own platform for a while, but realized in order to complete an entire season of the show, they need to raise funds and investors. The entire season would be produced crew of just 4 and has plenty of haunted spaces they’d like to explore.

So they’ve worked a deal with AmazonPrime to air the 2 episode pilot series and you can currently watch it for just $2.99/episode.

Episode One:

Gus & Eleanor built this home in the 1940’s and were loved by many in the neighborhood. Gus was even known as the mayor of Patterson Park in Dayton, Ohio. Gus died at 100 years old. Current homeowners Aaron & Nathan have documented evidence of activity so the crew meets up with them to further investigate.

Episode Two:

The historical Victoria Theatre in Dayton, Ohio is the scene for this paranormal investigation. Thousands have graced the stage with their energy since 1866, persevering through two fires and a flood. See what the crew discovers when the lights go out.

Dayton Dinner Theater’s Big Lebowski Movie Party is happening at The Brightside this Sunday, March 12, 2023.

DDT is a great way to spend time with family and friends when the days are short and nights are long. Make the most of it by sipping the sublime themed drinks with your loved ones, while flaunting your movie-themed attire.

What to expect from a Dayton Dinner Theater event? First off, make sure you indulge in the creatively themed food provided by Brock Masterson catering. While you indulge in the delicacies, you can feast your ears to live music and soundtrack presentations featuring acts by the likes of The University of Dayton Jazz Ensemble and acclaimed musician and producer Denny Wilson.

That’s not all. As it’s an interactive movie party, organizers will feature famous interactive quote and fun participation activities, pop-up fun facts, and our not-so-famous, but equally entertaining, theme-spotting drinking game. Enjoy some lip-smacking-themed desserts while you’re at it! To add the cherry on the cake, there are special surprises for the top costume contest participants.

Mansfield Restaurant Offers Underground Dining

Ready for a road trip for a truly unique dining experience? The recently opened Prohibition at the Caverns in Downtown Mansfield is a new upscale eatery, located nearly 30 feet underground in two man-made sandstone caverns built by German immigrants during the 19th century.

According to a Mansfield News Journal story, there are two caverns located underneath the eatery. Sitting side by side, they feature 20 foot-tall ceilings and are more than 16 feet, wide made from hand-carved sandstone. The new eatery’s website says the caverns were likely built sometime during the Civil War era (between 1850 and 1865), and were originally used by brewers to cold-ferment lagers.

Rick Taylor, the owner of Hudson & Essex, decided to capitalize on the unlike discovery, and converted the caverns into the brand-new fine dining concept. The space took years of work to make habitable, but the result is a truly unique–and unexpectedly spacious–restaurant

Now, after waiting three years for city approval and months of renovations, visitors can travel by elevator down below Hudson & Essex for reservations at Prohibition on Friday and Saturday evenings. The space can hold 40 guests and is available for private events, including wedding rehearsal dinners.

Prohibition’s menu boasts a rotating selection, including fry bread and goat cheese, charred trout with lemon aioli, Peking goose, blackberry sorbet, apple cake, and gingerbread ice cream. The experience is available for $190 per person with wine pairings of $165 per person without wine. View a sample menu here.

Come join us in historic downtown Middletown for a family-friendly Cookie Walk! After checking in at the Middletown Art Center (MAC), you will walk to different shops, eateries and establishments to get 9 different Girl Scout cookies.

For our 21 and older friends, each “Cookie Stop” will have a specially selected wine pairing available for purchase, $3 (not included in ticket price, sold separately at each location). Girl Scout cookie in one hand……paired wine in another…….does it get any better?! (The Downtown Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect, allowing you to sip and stroll between stops!)

Kramers Reopens With New Owners!

Elmer Kramer opened Kramers on Irving Ave in 1933. Kramers became the place to “tailgate” before UD basketball and football games.

When it was time, Elmer Kramer passed the bar onto his sons Bob and Red. Red, then passed it to his son, Fred. For 55 years, Kramers was solely owned and run by the Kramer family. In 1988 an entrepreneur by the name of Tom Zimmerman joined Fred in order to turn Kramers into the bar it is today. Tom added the pizza oven, simple bar food, and liquor.

Kramers is still family owned, but by a new family- The Gibson’s. When it reopens tomorrow at 11am, it will be Whitney and Brad who run the place. Whitney worked in restaurant when she was in high school and college, prefering the kitchen, where she really enjoyed cutting up vegetables, but admits she made better money as a waitress. She and Brad have been practicing making pizza for the past few weeks, along with doing a deep clean and paint job on on the interior of the building. They’ve retained 5 of the former 6 employees, as well as adding a few more to speed up service.

They menu is still pretty much the same, with pizza as the star. The Gibson’s got the recipe when they bought the business, so you can enjoy the same great pizza in 3 sizes.

Also available salads, sandwiches and more.

Whitney shares she was on a girl’s trip last year and she really enjoyed the local neighborhood eateries they could walk to. Brad was enamored with the lure of a local bar with a following that was a must stop for UD alums when they returned for a visit. So when Kramers became available they just knew that would be their place.

They’ve update the register system and hope to add online ordering. Whitney is looking forward to putting lunch specials on the menu and adding Coke fountain guns, come April. Follow their new facebook page for more updates as they come. Also, did you know you can rent out the front room, which seats about 50, for private parties?

DDNews Discontinues Printing Saturday Paper

Cox First Media will begin printing the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun and Journal-News six days a week, eliminating the Saturday printed edition on May 6. Though there will be no home delivery or single copy Saturday paper, the Saturday edition will be available through all digital channels, including the daily ePaper, newsletters and websites.

Every day, more loyal subscribers and more new readers are getting their news online as the evolution toward digital journalism accelerates. Currently, most newspaper readers rely on digital products for trusted local news.

Great Riverway Summit To Be Held in Sidney April 14th

The 2023 Riverway Summit is to be held at the recently restored Historic Sidney Theater in downtown Sidney, Ohio on Friday, April 14. The agenda features Amy Acton, former Director of the Ohio Department of Health. Acton now leads RAPID 5, a plan to connect Franklin County’s trail network with five stream corridors to put nature at the center of quality of life and economic growth.

Hosted by the City of Sidney, the Summit also features Lydia Mihalik, Director of the Ohio Department of Development who will speak on statewide initiatives, and the intersection of economic development and tourism. Sidney City Manager, Andrew Bowsher, will speak on the city’s recent growth, and facilitate a panel discussion of developers who are investing in many Riverway communities.

Sidney and Shelby County have the largest number of manufacturing jobs per capita in Ohio. Including the recent announcement of 1,200 new jobs by Semcorp, producer of electric vehicle battery components.

In addition, there will be exciting announcements from the mayors of every Riverway community including: Hamilton, Sidney, Troy, Trenton, Piqua, West Carrollton, Miamisburg, Middletown, Franklin, and the county commissioners of Miami and Montgomery counties. On Sunday, April 2nd Jollity is presenting a special five course dinner to benefit Artemis Center, Dayton’s Domestic Violence Resource Agency. There are 40 tickets available for this and include a wine pairing with each course. Dinner begins at 5:30pm and is scheduled to end at about 8:30pm.
