Drinkable Honey

June 21, 2012 By Brian Petro Leave a Comment

Sweet and delicious inspiration

Liquor, like all good things that have come down to us over the millennia, was created by accident. Someone left something that could be fermented in a cool, dry place with plenty of water, someone boldly drank the water that was there, and the party started. When you think of the classic drinks, beer and wine are the ones that should come to the top of mind. Beer in the northern areas, where the seasons were rough and grain was plentiful. Warmer climates offered a bounty of grapes to grow and crush, making wine the drink of choice around the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Further south in Africa, something different was happening. It was also happening in China, but not in the same pure form it was in Africa. Honey was the dominant target of sugary treat to be fermented, and the fermentation of honey becomes mead. Mead was being created in Africa for hundreds of years before wine and beer were being made. Mead, once it was brought forth from Africa, became a staple all over the world.

Mead is liquor fermented from honey. It is incredibly simple to make, so simple nature makes it all by itself. In Africa, it was discovered in hollow tree stumps filled with water after the rainy season. Bees made their hives in there, and when the rains came they wisely abandoned them. The honey was processed by the bees until it was so dense that airborne yeast would not get trapped and ferment in it (bees are teetotalers), but trapped it was. The yeast helped to ferment the honey as it broke down in the water. That left whatever honey was there, sitting in the rain water until someone found it sometime later. As people migrated north, they took the secrets of mead creation with them. It spread through Europe, and people loved it.

This is a little more intimidating than picking grapes.

The love people had for mead made it legendary. Most European mythology has mead as a drink of the gods, and bees as messengers to the gods. Nectar was what the Greek gods drank to maintain their immortality, and the Norse mixed the blood of the god Kvasir with honey to make the Mead of Poetry. Mead was in the epic poem Beowulf, and mentioned by the Spanish in their poems as well. Mead was drank by royalty through Europe. It became so popular that one of the wedding gifts expected to be provided was a month’s worth of the sweet drink. The supply lasted from one full moon to the next, giving us the post-nuptial term “honeymoon”. Bees do not like to give up their honey very easily, and they only will produce so much in a season. As the population of Europe grew, mead became more and more precious. It lost its popularity through two major events on the continent. Marco Polo brought sugar cane back from his trips from China, which offered a cheaper and easier way to make wine and beer, increasing their popularity through Europe. About a century and a half later, Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries in England (which made a considerable amount of alcohol in general), pushing mead underground completely. Over the centuries it became something that was made individually in homes, and such a part of English tradition they brought bees over to the New World with them.

Mead has many varieties, all of them regional, and all of them unique. In Ethiopia, each house has its own recipe of a drink they call tej. They flavor it with a bitter bark from the gesho tree and are very serious about keeping each family recipe secret. The Finns have a special version for their May Day celebrations called sima, to which lemon is added to balance the sweetness of the honey. Raisins are then added to show when the fermentation is done; when the raisins float, the drink is ready. Ireland and England consider it a traditional drink, and many people drink it along with stout and Irish whisky on St. Patrick’s Day. You can drink mead chilled like you would a white wine, or add mulling spices to it and drink it warm. Much like where and how grapes are grown can affect the taste of wine, where honey is gathered can alter the taste of mead. People have also added spices, berries, special yeasts, malts, apples, and anything else that has sugar and can add to the flavor of the mead. Mead can handle it all.

How can you say no to good, local mead?

Of course, by this point you would love to try a glass of it yourself, but where in the Miami Valley can you get some? Miami Valley Wine and Spirits has the occasional tasting of mead, as well as selling some of the flavored meads. The ever eclectic Belmont Party Supply offers a selection of mead that leans to the more traditional honey flavors. Our friends at Arrow Wine and Spirits also have a broad selection of meads. Local wine producers Valley Vineyards make excellent mead, and they also sell it as a split if you just want to try it before committing to a bottle. B Nektar has much more fun with their meads, offering a wide variety of flavors for you to explore. Chaucer Mead is sold with a few packs of mulling spices, offering you the option of drinking it warmed or chilled. If you are looking to make your own, You can find some of the tools for it right next door to Belmont party supply. You can also get the honey locally from Bee Honey Healthy or look at local farmer’s markets in Centerville or downtown.

While you may not find poetic inspiration or divine vision while drinking mead, you are sure to find some pleasant surprises while exploring it. Bring it in as a dessert wine for the next party you go to, or have a mead tasting of your own. Have you had a mead you would like to recommend? Add it in the comments section. Cheers!

Ah, it is officially summer! A time for swimming and barbeques and all sorts of outdoor based activities. And when you’ve had your fill of the sun and heat, where better to turn then the soft squishy seat inside the darkened confines of an air-conditioned theatre? Summer is traditionally the “off-season” for theatre, meaning the opportunity for live shows will be slightly less in the coming weeks, but that doesn’t mean it’s non-existent. Two great musicals are finishing up their runs this weekend, and I have news for you on Dayton’s favorite traveling Shakespeare Troupe!

Closing this weekend:

Tickets: All information regarding tickets can be found online at www.victoriatheatre.com

Beavercreek Community Theatre

The Skinny: Kander and Ebb’s well-loved musical about prohibition-era murderesses finishes its run in Beavercreek this weekend.

Tickets: Tickets are still available but are becoming rather scarce, so if you’re interested, please get ticketing information at www.bctheatre.org

Bare/Stop-Kiss

2 Crowd-Pleasers, 1 More Week + Special Screening at THE NEON

June 20, 2012 By Jonathan McNeal Leave a Comment

Hello Everyone,

This week’s newsletter will be short and sweet. If you still need to see HYSTERIA or THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL, you have one more week! Both films will play until Thursday, June 28. On June 29, we will open MOONRISE KINGDOM (my favorite film of the year so far) and LOLA VERSUS (for one week only). Click on any of these titles to visit each film’s official site.

On Thursday, June 28 at 7:30, The Greater Dayton LGBT Center and The Miami Valley Pride Partnership will present a screening of the new documentary VITO. This wonderful new film is about the life of Vito Russo – author, film lover, leader and activist. In addition to being educational and enlightening, I found the movie to be utterly inspiring. I’m anxious to see it again. Tickets, just $8 each, are available at our box office. (Above is an image of Vito Russo and Bette Midler…her appearance in the film is quite special!) This just in: I’m delighted to announce that Professor Charles Derry will introduce VITO on Thursday evening. It was in his class at WSU where I was first introduced to Russo’s pinnacle book THE CELLULOID CLOSET.

“Allow yourself to be immersed in a world where perception is redefined by a mysterious drug called I Razor. Dr. Gregory Fleer, a once brilliant scientist and the creator of I Razor, is transformed by his own experiment, along with a portion of the male population, into a band of telekinetic freaks who must negotiate their way through a world twisted beyond all recognition by their altered perceptions… Circus Devils (Robert Pollard of GUIDED BY VOICES and Todd Tobias) present: I RAZOR a New Film directed by Todd Tobias, starring Steve Five, Cory Race, and Brad Visker – with music by Circus Devils. Saturday July 14th at 12:30pm. Tickets are $5 each, and they are going fast. Buying a ticket will enter you into a raffle to win cool I Razor/Circus Devils stuff (I Razor Movie T Shirts, posters) before the movie…” (taken from press release)

And don’t forget that your movie ticket gets you 15% off your food order at Sa-Bai…located directly behind THE NEON.

Thanks for your continued support.

Jonathan

See the New Studios at WYSO’s Open House

June 20, 2012 By Dayton Most Metro Leave a Comment

Editor’s Note: submitted by 91.3FM WYSO

On Sunday, June 24, public radio station WYSO will hold an open house at their new studios at 150 E. South College Street in Yellow Springs.

From 1pm til 5 pm, there will be live music and spoken word events in the new, expanded performance space. Visitors will have a chance to tour the new facilities, meet WYSO staff and resource board members, and to record a greeting in one of the new production booths.

On the same day, WYSO will officially power up to fifty thousand watts. A new transmitter and antenna have already been installed and tested. WYSO has also launched their annual fiscal year end fund drive and will be “selling watts for WYSO.”

Listeners can “buy” watts for two dollars each and help WYSO raise funds. Everyone who gives two dollars or more during June will receive a certificate.

During the Open House on June 24 there will be many musical and spoken work guests including Wheels from Yellow Springs, Dayton blues band Miss Lissa and Co and Ohio Heritage Fellow Rick Good, with more performers to be announced soon.

“Our open house will be fun and family-friendly,” says WYSO general manager Neenah Ellis. “ We’ll have snacks and drinks available and activities for kids as well.”

In addition to four consecutive hours of live music and spoken word guests, hosted by WYSO Music Director Niki Dakota, visitors will be allowed to record themselves and their families in new WYSO production booths. “We hope people will come and see what a community-friendly new space we have,” says Ellis.

Antioch University, which holds the WYSO license, invested one million dollars to renovate the first floor of the former Kettering Research Lab building for WYSO. The upgraded broadcast facilities were paid for in part by a matching federal grant.

“Antioch invested in WYSO because they recognize our value to the community and to the university,” says Ellis.

‘Thank God It’s Thursday’ Weekly Event

June 20, 2012 By Dayton Most Metro Leave a Comment

(from left) Josh Egeland, Jason Weber and Jay Madewell onstage at One Eyed Jacks (photo by Todd the Fox)

Throughout the city of Dayton, and the cities around it, there are a vast number of bands and artists that take to the stage each and every night.  A lot of them have perfected their craft, whatever its rock, country, folk, etc.  It’s remarkable to go around town and see all the different styles that each band or artist perform to.   A couple of musicians from the Gem City have developed another concept that will make your Thursday nights a little more exciting.

Local DJs/musicians Jay Madewell and Josh Egeland are part of a duo called Dirty/Clean and on Thursday nights at One Eyed Jacks on Colonel Glenn Highway they host an event called ‘Thank God It’s Thursday’.   The concept of the duo is really out of the ordinary.  Egeland will spin retro tunes, while Madewell plays drums to the beat of the songs throughout the evening.  Other local musicians will come and play other instruments with the duo.  The end result is a stunning collaboration of great music that will no doubt leave people blown away.  It also will give people all the more reason to bring their dancing shoes, and dance the night away.

Josh Egeland of Dirty/Clean (Photo by Todd the Fox)

The show idea wasn’t thought up within a few minutes.  “I have been throwing around the idea for some time now.  I thought now would be a good time as any to set this idea into action,” Madewell told me before the inaugural show this past Thursday night.  “We hope that the event takes off and we can do shows on Friday and Saturday nights as well,”

The show is truly an experience that you have to see.  As Egeland supplied the crowd with classics from the days of disco and funk to Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, Madewell pounded away on the drums to the beat of the music.  Percussion was added to the mix on this evening from Jason Webber.  If the music didn’t keep people’s attention, the Gem City Rockers performed some Go Go Dancing, and also a light show just to the show’s unique style.

The crowd on the dance floor during Thank God It's Thursday (Photo by Todd the Fox)

As the night went on, the crowd at One Eyed Jacks grew larger and larger.  A large group of the patrons took to Dirty/Clean fun, groovy music playing beautifully.  People started displaying their best dance moves, while many others watched in amazement.  Some of the people that were in attendance at One Eyed Jacks mentioned to me that this was something that they didn’t think to imagine coming and seeing ever.  The concept was fresh and outside of the box, and they couldn’t wait to see the show evolve.   They also said that the bar was a perfect spot for the show to take place.  Madewell agreed.  “(One Eyed Jacks) is one of the best melting pots of music scenes I’ve seen in years in the Dayton area.”

With the event taking place each Thursday night, Madewell and Egeland have their sights set on making the show have themes to them. “I would love to do different shows.  Maybe a super hero theme one night.   Playing the Superman theme would be cool.”  With the way the first night went, the masses are up for anything.

‘Thank God Its Thursday’ takes place at One Eyed Jacks, which is located on 2638 Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn, right across from Wright State University.  The show is Thursdays 9pm-2am; 18 and up, and it’s free.

Troegs Java Head Stout – Video Review

June 20, 2012 By Max Spang Leave a Comment

[yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Es-_sJK7eA’]

This is the Snobby Beer review of Java Head Stout from Tröegs Brewing Co in Hershey, PA. This year-round beer features coffee that is added via the hopback vessel, where the hot wort passes through what is essentially a giant French Press on its way to fermentation. This is also one of the first stouts that got me into craft beer!

This beer is available year round in the Dayton area wherever quality beers are sold.

From the Troegs website:Troegs Java Head Stout

“Alcohol by Volume: 7.5%
Hop Bitterness (IBUs): 60
Color (SRM): Black
Availability: Year Round
Malts: Pilsner, Crystal, Chocolate, Roast
JuJu: Oats, Blend of Coffee Beans
Hops: Cluster, Chinook, Cascade
Yeast: Unfiltered Ale

JavaHead Stout contains a blend of locally roasted espresso and Kenyan coffee beans by St. Thomas Roasters in Linglestown, PA.

JavaHead’s recipe is based off of our original oatmeal stout. After the boil, the hot wort passes through our hopback vessel on it’s way to fermentation. Packed full of whole leaf hops and a bed of ground coffee beans, the hopback vessel is similar to using a huge French press, intensifying the coffee nose and releasing subtle hints of coffee flavor. The result is a lush oatmeal mouthfeel balanced with cocoa, roasted barley and subtle coffee flavors.

FOOD COMPLIMENTS
Cheese (earthy; Camembert, Fontina) General (Chocolate, Dessert) Meat (Shellfish, Smoked Meat)

Serving Suggestions:
Temp: 50-55°F Glassware: Pint or Mug”

Questions? Suggestions? Let me know what you think! Grab a beer and leave a comment.

Coming up in Local Jazz : June 20-July 3

June 20, 2012 By Ron Gable Leave a Comment

Do you think Jazz is dead? I have to admit that as a commercial product, jazz is having its ups and downs, but as an art form it continues at a remarkable pace. As proof to my statement, I offer, from personal observations – my recent attendance at: Stivers School for the Arts fundraiser to go to the New York Jazz Festival, the Beavercreek High School Weekend of Jazz Festival and the recent Fairborn High School Jazz Band spring fundraiser concert. These events by young players really committed to jazz were all very well attended.

Speaking of remarkable, tonight’s (Wednesday, June 20) concert at the Stubbs Park Amphitheater in Centerville by the Miami Valley Jazz Camp All Stars and the Dayton Jazz Orchestra is more evidence of “Youth in Jazz” in our area. This is part of the 19th annual Miami Valley Jazz Camp with this year’s faculty being: Hal Melia, Dan Nicora, Bill Burns, Dr. Scott Belck, Alyssa Mehnert, Sammy Kestenholtz, Jim Leslie, Jim Smith, Phil DeGreg, Brian Cashwell and Chris Berg. They appear again on Friday, June 22nd for a public concert at Kettering Fairmont Theater with this year’s Student Big Band & Combo and again on Wednesday, June 27th at the Fraze Pavilion when the Dayton Jazz Orchestra w/Miami Valley Jazz Camp All Stars & Carillon Park Concert Band provides the entertainment. These events are free and open to the public. Check out the Dayton Jazz Orchestra website for more details.

A few more near-term jazz events you may find of interest: Thursday, June 21st the Generations Big Band is at Jazz Central and on Sunday, June 24th will be the 30th annual Women in Jazz Festival in downtown Dayton at Dave Hall Plaza from 1:00 to 9:00 pm with the official after party at Jazz Central from 9:00pm to 1:00am. Check out Jazz Central’s website for the After Party information.

Some weekly jazz happenings: The Trio at the Brio every Monday features the John Taylor on drums, Brian Cashwell on keyboard and Chris Berg on bass. Dave Greer’s Classic Jazz Stompers is at Neil’s Heritage House every Wednesday. Ron Hartwell does a Swing, Latin & Ballroom Dance at the Dayton Event Connection every Wednesday. Catch the Shawn Stanley Trio Carvers Steaks & Chops in Centerville every Friday. And don’t forget there is a real Jazz Jam every Sunday night at Jazz Central. You can go to the Jazz Advocate website to get the times and location information on these events as well some 900 other jazz events in our area, or check out the DMM Event Calendar!

Brixx Ice Company’s Menu is a Grand Slam

June 19, 2012 By Dayton937 1 Comment

Brixx Ice Company is much more than “that place across from the Dragon’s Stadium.”   Locals may be aware of their good beer tap selections and drink deals before the baseball games.  What most Dayton foodies don’t know, is that this place has a strong menu.  Brixx’s owner Chris Bhai keeps striding to bring fantastic food selections to go along with his restaurant’s fantastic patio view.  A self taught chef, Chris brings his spicy spin to traditional favorites, and hits a few home runs of his own with innovative menu items.    These meal selections are being gobbled up by hungry patrons and with summer in full swing, this eatery gets quite crowded.

Homemade, Hand Rolled Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls

The Big Ragu, Chef House and Hungry Jax enjoyed a peaceful, sunny, Saturday afternoon recently on Brixx’s patio.  We sampled some Summer Shandy and the  newly acquired Third Shift Brewing Company draft choices.  Also sipped, was the new Angry Orchard Hard Cider by Sam Adam’s breweries.  As we enjoyed the day we ordered an appetizer that has become one of Brixx’s calling cards, gourmet egg rolls.  Egg rolls??  Yes, egg rolls.  Brixx hand wraps these homemade beauties in forms of interesting twists such as cheese steak egg rolls and vegetable curry egg rolls.  We went for the cheese steak egg rolls, which blew us away.   Served fresh and piping hot, the cheese and steak inside melted in your mouth.  They even served a side of cheese queso for dipping and it was pure cheese steak utopia.

” Mom !!! The Meatloaf !! “

Our special moment was interrupted by the owner and server telling us that we have to try the Kobe Meatloaf sandwich.  Meatloaf ??? Yes, meatloaf.  We took the leap of faith, and also decided to try another unique dish, Chicken Korma.  Chicken Korma is Brixx’s spin on an Indian dish and was inspired by the owner’s  father.  Both dishes were very tasty.   The incredible meatloaf sandwich has a glaze sauce that is sweet and spicy and it made the dish even more superb.  It tasted like an incredible burger.  We are hooked!

The Chicken Korma was a colorful and tasty dish.  It is thinly sliced chicken breast tossed in a curry masala.   The colorful dinner also includes corn, green beans and onions over a bed of rice.  It is flavorful with the perfect amount of heat.  It was also served with a few small pieces of naan bread.

Other Food Adventure favorites include Fire Bites (deep fried jalapeno slices), and of course the “Build your Own Brixx Burger.”   Hungry Jax  also enjoys the Chicago Beef Sandwich, homemade waffle fries and the breaded mushrooms.

A fantastic Indian dish called Chicken Korma

Brixx Ice Company has live music on Friday and Saturday evenings and some pretty good drink specials.   Who doesn’t love a great deal?  They have a pretty extensive cocktail menu, and of course one of the best patio dining areas in town.  Now you know, location is not Brixx’s only strength.  The owner has presented a new take on familiar menu items, and hit them out of the park!  Slide into Brixx Ice Company, a true Dayton original and check it out yourself.

Have you had a chance to visit Brixx’s Ice Company ?  Please leave your input below !

Wonder Weaving – Culture Builds Community

June 18, 2012 By Dayton937 Leave a Comment

As I stood in a sunny alcove at Stivers School for the Arts, watching a group of young ladies arrive for the Culture Builds Community course (part of the Dayton Summer Arts Camp) it was easy to imagine the beautiful wonder weaving that would follow and the transformations that would take place.

Course descriptions can only take you so far. Words share the ideas, the tasks of the course, maybe something about what leaders hope will take place. Families sign up based on the descriptions that sound most engaging. Truth be told, it is more likely that the power of arts camp on individuals and groups is exactly what they don’t read in short pithy sentences, the stuff talked about but not yet in the room. Let’s call that “wonder”.

Merriam Webster defines wonder as something awesomely mysterious or new to one’s experience. See also: marvel, miracle. Yes. It’s that connection with something new, something that moves us. Wonder breeds transformation. The action of art, the doing what could only be described: this “other” connection, beyond the directions and the tasks: here is where a journey begins.

As the children entered the space for the CBC course, I watched their eyes wander from thing to thing on the presentation table. Day 1: sand mandala and dance styles from India. They sat in the bright, warm space, responding quietly to the greetings of their instructors. Slowly, the leader invited them into ceremony for the beginning of the Mandala. The cacophony of voices: kids, parents and teachers at registration tables had diminished, leaving, at this moment, the sound of Tibetan chimes and the quiet breathing of a new group of “wonderers”.

Next, the table, the paper, the pattern, each thing interesting in it’s own right, combined to be a receiver of color, texture and promise – the new moon mandala, appearing like magic out of sand, pigment and paper, carefully arranged by a group of children who knew nothing of each other, the artists or the process just 30 minutes earlier. On they went without lapse of attention, with intensity and calm. After an hour, it was time for dance. A short completion ritual of the day’s progress, a break and then into a large classroom, desks removed and space created for dancers.

Onward into the rhythmic, mysterious music of India, vibrant young women wearing beautiful fabrics, and more wonder! This bunch of campers, ranging from age 8 to 15, stood ready to learn. By the end of the first day, they had learned an entire Bollywood-style dance. Day two: they jumped right into Bhangra style dance, confident and full of pride. Transformation was well underway. These young ladies will join their teachers, dancing at the Cityfolk Festival, to the live music of Red Baarat!

A terrific first week ended in true, wonderous fashion, with the ceremonial destruction of the mandala (very moving), the distribution of sand to all the makers and a walk to the river to return the remaining sand to the natural world, flowing all the makers’ intentions throughout the city. I joined the group in their walk down to the river. The melancholy of sweeping away the mandala turned into a joyous celebration walk, culminating in an unexpected and magical way. When we arrived at Webster St. bridge and walked down the path to the water, the fountains came on, all of them, creating a brilliantly colored rainbow with cool, misty refreshment for the weary walkers as they gave the sand back to its source.

Wonder weaving: taking the threads of rich, new experiences that delight and shape us, weaving them together and building the vibrant fabric of our lives. When we share fabrics, one with another, the tapestry of community is woven. When tapestry upon tapestry, fill the rooms of our cities, states and countries, our world is unified: one big colorful house of wonder! May these young students at summer camp be inspiration for us to wonder weave. Culture Builds Community is for everyone. It’s the art of us!

Dining Deals for Dad’s

June 16, 2012 By Lisa Grigsby Leave a Comment

Father’s Day is celebrated on the  3rd Sunday in June in many parts of the world. The idea for creating a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father’s Day while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909. Having been raised by her father, Henry Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora’s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.

In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day. President Nixon, in 1972, established a permanent national observance of Father’s Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. So Father’s Day was born as a token of love and gratitude that a daughter cherishes for her beloved father.

There are an estimated 70 million father’s in the United States and the most common  Father’s Day gifts include ties, sporting items, electronic gadgets, outdoor cooking supplies and tools.  The most frequent celebrations of Father’s Day include a family cookout, but if you’d prefer to take Dad out here are some deals just for Dad:

Guest Review: Elite Catering Offers Elegant Experience

June 15, 2012 By Dayton Most Metro Leave a Comment

This guest review submitted by Cittie Myers:

As a resource development coordinator it is occasionally my responsibility to put together small events for my organization. Finding a caterer can be one of the most difficult feats of that responsibility. A business that will work with your time frame, your “theme,” the peculiarities of your event or organizations and who does it with a charm and wit is very hard to find. I happily stumbled upon Elite Catering and they were everything I could hope for and more.

I wanted a menu that was light to match the Spring weather of our outdoor reception and distinctive and innovative enough to represent my organization. Their appetizer menu was just that. Beef tenderloin brushetta’s with a tomato jam I would happily over indulge in any day. Twice backed red new potatoes stuffed with pulled pork and crispy onions that was sublime and scrumptious. Bourbon Street Sweet Potatoes that were a luscious ode to your holiday yams with a drizzle of marshmallow sauce. Whimsical and witty Watermelon Gazpacho shooters, cool and refreshing with the hint of heat were refreshing. Those are just a sampling of the lush and exciting food they offer, I couldn’t have dreamed up a better menu.

Renee McClure, Owner Elite Catering

Michelle and Renee are wonderful ladies to work with. They met every challenge with grace and put me at ease no matter my untimely requests. Antoine, John and Sam created elegant and sophisticated vignettes that delighted our guests visually and enticed them to mingle and enjoy themselves. To top it off John and Sam provided excellent service throughout. Both of these young men were charming and yet unobtrusive and never allowed a display to be unattended all evening.
In short, if you are looking for a catering team who will be friendly, supportive, witty, charming and provide you and your guests with a uniquely sublime and elegant experience there is only one place in the area; Elite Catering.
