Free Lunch To Celebrate Bibibop Opening on Brown Street

November 30, 2016 By Lisa Grigsby

o-1Dayton’s first fast casual Korean inspired restaurant will open its doors to the public tomorrow with a free lunch for all from 11am – 2pm at Bibibop Asian Grill on Brown Street.

Not being familiar with Korean food is not a problem, as the experience is similar to that of Chipotle or Rapid Fired Pizza, where you stroll down the line picking your ingredients and end up with a meal.   While this is Dayton’s first Bibibop, there are a dozen more in Columbus and Cincinnati.  The concept has been quickly embraced and has double-digit same-store sales growth and plans for almost 20 more stores in the next timg_1126-2wo years.

You start by choosing a bowl, salad or roll (a wrap that is rolled).  I chose the purple rice, which I learned is really white rice steamed with black rice that when  steam together the black rice naturally dyes into the white rice and makes it purple and gives it a slight nutty flavor.  There is no artificially coloring or flavoring involved! And the black rice makes it healthier being filled with antioxidants, fiber, and tons of other healthy vitamins!  Then I added some black beans, leaving the sauteed potatoes and sprouts for another visit.

Then you get to pick your protein from diced grilled chicken, spicy chicken, steak or tofu or a combination of these.  I went for the spicy chicken and steak for a real meat lovers mea.

Next you add your vegetable toppings, selecting from chopped cucumber, lettuce, carrots dre13584965_1020757884668856_1053085283643466722_ossed with sesame oil, pickled daikon,  corn for a sweet crunch, cheese, chopped egg or sprouts. Have a few or do them all, which I did.

Then you can pick your sauce, a spicy sriracha, a Korean red sauce that was a little sweet, teriyaki or yum yum.  I chose to go for 1/2 spicy sriracha 1/2 yum yum, which I was later told by the marketing team is the most popular.

There are also a handful of sides you order, including miso soup, edamame, fresh cut pineapple and spicy Korean Kimchi (a fermented cabbage).

After grabbing your meal, you head to the self service beverage station, stocked with Coke products, Izze Sparkling juices and various teas.   You can also help yourself to additional sauces.

Korean Bibimbap, (mixed rice) is the inspiration for this restaurant, created by Charley Shin 3 years ago in Columbus and inspired by family recipes.   Westernizing the name and menu, Shin wanted to offer something healthy and adventurous.  He thinks the Bibibop name is fun to say and eating there makes people feel good.  With a mix of community tables and booths, the sleek white and orange decor seems young and hip.  Designed to appeal to millennials, Shin feels that they are more adventurous and like to try new things.  His desire to appeal to the younger generation was part of the Brown street site selection by the University.  According to Dori North, who handles Bibibop’s real estate,   they concept likes to cluster their eateries in a city and they are currently in negotiation for 2 more sights,  with expectation to open one by fall and another in early 2018.

Visit Bibibop Asian Grill at 1200 Brown Street, open seven days a week from 11am – 9pm.

Book Fair Accepting Applications for 2017 Charity Partners

November 30, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

bookfairlogo2-1The Dayton Book Fair Foundation hosted it’s 2016 book sale just a couple of weeks ago and proceeds were donated to 3 local non-proftits- FilmDayton, K12 Gallery & TEJAS, Learning Tree Farm.

Now it’s time to find 3 new beneficiaries for the 2017 sale, which will be held the second week in November.

The application process could not be simpler— there’s no form or report or presentation. We simply need a letter from your group. Your letter should tell us something about the group’s mission, your role in our community, and how you envision a partnership with the Book Fair Foundation.

There are three requirements for application:

  1. Your group must be a registered organization in the State of Ohio.
  2. Your location must be within 25 miles of the city of Dayton
  3. You must be a 501c3.

Letters must be received by December 31, 2016.

The board will meet early in January to talk about the applications we’ve received. Some of the things that we consider is what kind of “match” the applicant feels like for us— does this seem like a group whose mission is in concert with our own? We also look at the 990-N documents that each organization has filed. We work very hard to make the book fair a success. We’d like the gift we give to have significant impact on the organizations we choose.bookfair

Dayton Book Fair beneficiaries share equally in the net proceeds generated by the fair– and this year we will again choose three organizations.

If your group is chosen as a beneficiary, there are certain requirements you should be aware of.

We require 40 volunteer hours from your organization. It can be 40 people for one hour, 4 people for ten hours, one person for 40 hours— the volunteer hours can be at the sale, or during one of our two roundups or during the year at the Book Loft, or a combination of any of those. At least four of those forty hours must be fulfilled on the afternoon of November 13th,2017 the Monday following the sale.

Additionally, we expect that you will promote the 47th Annual Dayton Book Fair among your own volunteers, staff and fans– through newsletter, website, Facebook page, emails or tweets. We want the people who love your organization to help support you by supporting the Book Fair.

2016_11_10_book_fair-1Letters of application should be sent to the Book Fair Foundation, 2181 Embury Park Rd, Dayton, OH 45414. You are also welcome to drop off your letter at our Embury Park Road office. (Look for the big red sign in the yard.) We are open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10 to 3 and Wednesday 1 to 7.

We will announce the beneficiaries of the 2017 Dayton Book Fair on Monday, January 16th, 2017 on this site, on our Facebook page and on our telephone greeting.

And remember, if we don’t choose you this year, that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t choose you another year, so even if you are disappointed, be sure to apply again.

A Day of Philanthropy- Giving Tuesday

November 28, 2016 By Lisa Grigsby

giving-tuesday-logoCelebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.

Created by a team of influencers in New York City who joined forces, collaborating across sectors, offering expertise and working tirelessly, to launch #GivingTuesday and have continued to shape, grow and strengthen the movement.

#GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners— nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals—to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.

According to Whole Whale in 2015 about 700,000 donors in the US donated with an average gift of $137 , which was a 145% growth over 2014.

Locally The Yellow Springs Community Foundation is supporting efforts by offering up to $10,000 in matching funds for #YSGivingTuesday to the following organizations:

The 365 Projectgivelocal
The Antioch School
Antioch College
Antioch Writers’ Workshop
Arthur Morgan Institute for Community Solutions
Chamber Music Yellow Springs
Glen Helen
John Bryan Community Pottery
Little Art Theatre
NAMI of Clark, Greene and Madison Counties
Tecumseh Land Trust
Yellow Springs Arts Council
Yellow Springs Home, Inc.
YS Kids Playhouse
Yellow Springs Schools
Yellow Springs Senior Center

In order for your donation to help organizations become eligible for matching funds, you must give online and you must donate on #GivingTuesday, November 29th.   Visit www.ysgivingtuesday.com to make your gift!

The three organizations with the most votes on their photos by #GivingTuesday will receive this year’s #SpreadtheGood Grants (first place – a one-time $2,000 grant; second place – a one-time $1,000 grant; or third place – a one-time $500 grant). Voting will end at noon on November 29, #GivingTuesday. You may vote up to ten times per day, allowing you to support multiple organization or divide your votes among many.

Vodka Tasting this Friday

November 28, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

vodka_shots_16308_10218Present in almost every restaurant and bar, vodka is perhaps the most versatile of spirits. Come to taste and learn all about this liquor with our kitchen and bar experts at The Vodka Tasting on Friday, December 2.

“Vodka is the key spirit in a number of different cocktails but it can be rich in flavor on its own too,” Bill Castro, owner of El Meson said. “This event will feature a few classic vodka cocktails and also explore the varying styles and differences in distilling.”

The Vodka Tasting features five vodka and vodka cocktails that have been paired with selected tapas to help bring out the different tones from each drink.

“In the same way that vodka can be the perfect pairing in your cocktail, we’ve thoughtfully paired up some dishes,” Castro said. “No matter how familiar you are or aren’t, there is a lot of unexpected variants between vodkas”

For those interested in attending The Vodka Tasting, the event costs $44.94 (which includes tax and gratuity) and takes place at El Meson on Friday, December 2 from 7-9pm. More information and tickets can be found at elmeson.net

SVG Motors Grand Opening Block Party

November 25, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

Ohio State-Michigan. Just the mention of the two storied programs evokes visions of some of the most memorable games in college football history. The heated rivalry has reached a new exciting chapter rivaling the years of Woody Hayes versus Bo Schembechler now that Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh are the field generals, and the winner of this Saturday’s clash will likely reach the playoffs while the loser will settle for a bowl game. The SVG Motors Grand Opening Block Party will embrace the featured attraction by showing the big game on a big screen TV and introduce fans for former Ohio State players James Cotton, Kato Mitchell and Jeff Greene.
15025104_1806719462938810_6145984931507452639_o
Cotton was part of the Buckeyes’ Big Ten championship and Sugar Bowl winning season in 1998 before spending time in the NFL and CFL. Mitchell and Greene were part of Ohio State’s national title in 2015. All three will be on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans, and watch the rivalry. Before the game, there will be a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. to recognize the opening of the SVG Super Center. At 11:30, the Department of Ohio Military Order of the Purple Heart Honor Guard will present the colors and perform the National Anthem.

Since it was launched by Steve VanGorder in 2014, SVG Motors has grown from a small lot in Vandalia to a 11940695_1633432310267527_226049319588565355_nthriving company that includes SVG Chevrolet in Greenville and SVG Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Eaton. This month, VanGorder and his team will debut the SVG Super Center in the former Moorman Pontiac location where Needmore Road meets Shoup Mill Road in Dayton. The SVG Motors Grand Opening Block Party on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the SVG Super Center represents the culmination of a month-long grand opening celebration.

“Rather than have a typical auto dealership grand opening event, we wanted to throw a block party where we could treat our guests to a fun and different experience watching the Ohio State-Michigan game and also get a chance to see the new SVG Super Center,” VanGorder said. “What better way to watch the big game than with a large group of Ohio State fans and former Ohio State players who are part of the program’s rich tradition.”

The Ohio State-Michigan game is part of the block party highlights.

Vincent M. Ward, a Dayton native who is veteran actor best known for his role in Season 3 of The Walking Dead, will be in attendance to sign autographs and pose for photos.
Dayton’s Clayton Murphy, who earned a bronze medal in 800-Meter Run at the 2016 Olympics, will sign autographs and pose for photos as well.

The SVG jingle has gained popularity from the company’s entertaining commercials, and the SVG Motors Weekly TV show that airs on Fox 45. Dayton-based funk music artists Brandon Harvey and Flash Melvin will perform the renowned jingle.

Dayton radio personality Kim Faris from B94.5 and the Frye Guy from 99.1 will be on hand for live remotes.

The event will also have Christmas tree giveaways, free oil change prizes and other perks. El Meson and 1776 Grille will serve menu items from their food trucks.
The SVG Motors Grand Opening Block Party is free and open to the public. The SVG Super Center is located at 400 Shoup Mill Road in Dayton. For more information, visit www.svgmotors.com or their Faceboook page.

‘Elf’ Review – Victoria Theatre Association – Christmas Cheer

November 25, 2016 By Russell Florence, Jr.

Highly entertaining and a great big bundle of fun, “Elf the Musical,” based on the popular 2003 Will Ferrell film of the same name, absolutely makes the season bright at the Schuster Center as a Project Unlimited Star Attractions courtesy of the Victoria Theatre Association.

elf-the-musical

The latest national tour of “Elf the Musical” continues through Nov. 27 at the Schuster Center courtesy of the Victoria Theatre Association. (Contributed photo)

Breezily directed by Sam Scalamoni and equipped with exuberantly crisp choreography by Connor Gallagher, this family-friendly tale concerns Buddy, an orphan inadvertently taken to the North Pole as a baby having tumbled into Santa’s bag of toys. Now an adult, Buddy has difficulty fitting in among the elves due to his huge size and poor toy-making skills. Upon realizing he’s actually human, Buddy is given permission by Santa to journey to New York City to find his long-lost father, a prominent publishing executive. As Buddy takes the Big Apple by storm in search of his true identity, he rejuvenates the city with his deep admiration for the joys of the season and falls in love in the process. This endearing tale, cleverly adapted by Tony Award-winning librettists Thomas Meehan (“Annie,” “The Producers,” “Hairspray) and Bob Martin (“The Drowsy Chaperone”), is bolstered by a tuneful, lively and poignant score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (“The Wedding Singer”). Standout selections include peppy trio “Happy All The Time,” “Sparklejollytwinklejingley,” and “The Story of Buddy the Elf” as well as heartwarming ballad “A Christmas Song.”
As the tall, outgoing Buddy, Spenser Micetich brings wonderful earnestness, sensitivity and humor to the role without venturing into Ferrell’s overly animated psyche. The delightful Daisy Carnelia is a fittingly cynical Jovie, a department store worker eventually wooed by Buddy’s charm and innocence. Carnelia’s rendition of the scorned “Never Fall in Love” is a particular knockout. Mark A. Harmon brings rigid authority and pleasant bewilderment to his portrayal of Walter Hobbs, Buddy’s snippy, overworked father. Rachel Bahler and Wyatt Rogers shine as Walter’s wife Emily and son Michael, illuminating astonishment to the hilt in the upbeat duet “There Is A Santa Claus.” Firm featured performances extend to Mark Fishback (an enjoyably relatable Santa), Morgan Billings Smith (kooky secretary Deb), Darius J. Manuel (an appealing Store Manager), and Randy Charleville (Walter’s stern boss Mr. Greenway). The nifty ensemble supplies terrific characterizations from spirited elves to jaded New Yorkers.

Additionally, Christine Peters’ splendid storybook sets, Gregg Barnes’ colorfully character-specific costumes, Paul Miller’s expert lighting, Shannon Slaton’s fine sound design, and conductor Shane Parus’ first-rate orchestra accent this Broadway-caliber production perfectly timed to the start of the holiday season.
“Elf the Musical” continues through Nov. 27 at the Schuster Center, Second and Main Streets, Dayton. Performances are Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 and 7:30 pm. Act One: 65 minutes; Act Two: 45 minutes. Tickets are $30-$97. For tickets or more information, call Ticket Center Stage (937) 228-3630 or visit ticketcenterstage.com.

Bad Santa 2 – The Perfect Holiday Film?

November 24, 2016 By Tabari McCoy

Despicable people doing humorous things makes for raunchy fun in Bad Santa 2

“So … Just tell me: Did they REALLY cut that guy’s foot off in that one episode of Mad Men?!” Diane (Christina Hendricks) glares at Willie Soke (Billy Bob Thornton, center) as his literal partner-in-crime Marcus (Tony Cox) does the same in a scene from BAD SANTA 2. Credit: Jan Thijs for Broad Green Pictures/Miramax © 2016 Santamax Distribution, LLC. All rights reserved.

WATCH THE TRAILER(S) HERE:

KEY CAST MEMBERS: Billy Bob Thornton, Kathy Bates, Tony Cox, Christina Hendricks, Brett Kelly, Jenny Zigrino, Jeff Skowron and Ryan Hansen

WRITER(S): Johnny Rosenthal and Shauna Cross (screenplay); Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (based on characters created by)

DIRECTOR(S): Mark Waters

WEB SITE: http://www.badsanta2.com/HERE’S THE STORY: Willie Soke (Billy Bob Thornton) is tired of being a loser. To hear him tell it, he was born a loser, has been living like a loser and is ready to die a loser – which is why he’s about to kill himself in the motel he’s been living in. But just as he’s in the act of doing it, his old buddy Thurman Merman (Brett Kelly) – the kid turned now 21 year old sandwich maker who took to him as his adopted dad – walks in, not knowing what Willie is doing.

Soon thereafter, Willie gets reacquainted with another old face in the form of Marcus Skidmore (Tony Cox), his height-challenged criminal associate that he hasn’t spoken to in quite some time. Then again, when someone tries to kill you, you really don’t expect to keep in touch with them. As it turns out, however, Marcus has a big score lined up with a Chicago benefactor that needs Willie’s safecracking skills. Reluctantly going along with the plan, Willie is beyond upset when he finds out who the benefactor is: His mother Sunny (Kathy Bates), a criminal in her own right planning on ripping off the charity she’s been working for after getting out of prison. Sure, the plan might involve Marcus and Willie buddying up to Diane (Christina Hendricks), wife of the charity’s founder Regent Hastings (Ryan Hansen) and their top female security guard Gina de Luca (Jenny Zigrino) … But when there’s $2 million to be had for the taking, you do what you gotta do, right?

Which includes not killing each other … At least not with anything other than insults.

WHO WILL LIKE THIS FILM THE MOST? People who enjoyed the first film; anyone who loves off-color humor and plenty of it, especially of a sexual nature; those who like a film that doesn’t fit the mainstream but has an actual story that works from start to finish; Kathy Bates fans

WHO WON’T (OR SHOULDN’T) LIKE THIS MOVIE? People who hated the first film; those who feel that anything Christmas/holiday related should NOT be associated with anything crass, lewd and/or potentially offensive; those who feel like the film does not take alcoholism or depression seriously;  activists who might view the film as promoting the verbal abuse of little people

SO, IS IT GOOD, BAD OR ABSOLUTELY AWFUL? The rare comedy sequel that surpasses the original in terms of both its storytelling, its comedy and – in this case, it’s downright disgraceful behavior – Bad Santa 2 is the perfect holiday film for anyone looking to watch bad people behaving even worse … And laugh all time they do it.

Make no mistake: Bad Santa 2 is as ribald as a rated “R” comedy can be these days, so if you are easily offended or watch the trailers and go ‘This doesn’t seem to be be for me,’ stick with that assessment. As anyone familiar with the first film might expect, Thornton’s performance in Bad Santa 2 is filled with all the crustiness, acerbic/sarcastic nature and yet, when faced with the optimism and innocence of Thurman, desire to do the right thing (in all the most wrong ways possible). Of course, one could say the same can be said for Cox and Bates as the three sling jokes with equivalency of heavyweight boxers in the 1970s. Whereas Thornton and Cox dish out insults throw profane insults at each other left and right, Bates more than holds her own, delivering crushing truths no proper mother would ever say to her son and discourse that would make even the most respectful man consider domestic violence.

Not to be left out, Hendricks and Zigrino get down in their own dirty ways, the former as a sexually frustrated wife and Jenny Zigrino as a security guars with a VERY specific fetish of her own that plays for big laughs. (To say more about it would be to give too much away.) However, the x factor that keeps you from feeling horrible about enjoying watching so many terrible people be, well, terrible is the performance of Kelly as the adorably naive Thurman. Ever an optimist who simply does not understand evil, bad or indecent things, Thurman is the one positive figure in the film who represents all of the things that one is supposed to appreciate about life – a fact not lost on Thornton’s character (and in turn, the audience). While in almost any other situation Thurman’s character would be a completely annoying caricature, Kelly hits his beats with precision to make it all come together.

At least, it all comes together as best one could hope for a film loaded with explicit language, sexual situations, politically incorrect, well, everything, drug and alcohol abuse … And quite possibly the world’s worst mother and son.

OVERALL RATING (OUT OF FOUR POSSIBLE BUCKETS OF POPCORN):

Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill light up the holidays for 29th season!

November 24, 2016 By Dayton Most Metro

cmillOpening Night for the ‘Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill’ is Friday, November 25, 2016. Gates open at 5 pm. Precisely at 6 pm, with the flip of one switch, nearly 4 million lights come on at once transforming the night into a shimmering world of fantasy.

For over a quarter of a century Clifton Mill has been lighting up the winter holidays. What began as a simple idea of stringing a few strands of lights on the historic mill for the enjoyment of family and friends has become one of the largest outdoor holiday displays for miles around. The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill now features close to 4 million lights which decorate the mill, the trees, the river banks and everything else we can reach. There is a synchronized lights and music show, which occurs hourly each night, that is truly breathtaking.

Also 29 years ago, the owners began work on a miniature village with scaled down versions of some of Clifton’s historic buildings built by an artisan in Pennsylvania. There has been a new addition each year by a variety of artists and today it is a sight to behold with street after miniature street of scaled down homes and businesses, a tiny Fire Dept. putting out a “house fire”, an outdoor train, a 1950s drive in theatre, a County Fair and much more, all lit up for the holidays!

Clifton Mill has over 3000 examples of Santa Claus on display dating from as far back as 1850. Some are toys, some are advertising items, some are weird, some are elegant, all are interesting.

The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill is open nightly from the day after Thanksgiving until January 1. It is an outdoor event and is weather permitting. Call before you come in bad weather.

Admission is $10 per person for everyone age 7 and older. Concession Food available. On Dec.8, 2016 a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Clifton is in Greene County, three miles east of Yellow Springs on State Rt. 343, six miles south of Springfield on State Rt. 72, and three miles north of Cedarville on Rt. 72.

Green Sriracha Bread Pudding by Chef House

Green Sriracha Bread Pudding by Chef House

Everybody is talking turkey, turkey turkey… giving pointers on grilling a turkey, baking one, deep frying one, etc, etc and so on.

Well, the Food Adventures crew says .. STUFF IT !  Literally. We want to share our secret or not so secret tips for stuffing, which is just as important as the turkey!

*** CHEF HOUSE’S TAKE ON STUFFING:  Try Bread Pudding as an alternative. Always use quality ingredients.

—Stuffing vs. Bread Pudding by Chef House: I love both equally. My step dad makes an insanely good oyster stuffing every year for Christmas. It is loaded up with stock, butter and of course lots of oysters.  I think gizzards are in there too.

—Bread pudding is a pretty cool alternative in that it can be sweet or savory! I like how versatile it is.  I, of course, slightly spice mine up, add veggies (duh!) and you can’t beat the cheese, eggs and cream 🙂

—My only tips for these two would be “use quality ingredients.”  Make your own stock for the stuffing, or use a really good one, I love Trader Joe’s veggie stock, actually more than i like their chicken broth!  It has way more flavor. Use good bread! This year I am adding spicy sausage and caramelized onions to my Green Sriracha and zucchini bread pudding.

Wow, are you drooling yet?  We are just getting started on this Food Adventure Holiday edition….

HUNGRY JAX’S TAKE ON STUFFING: Don’t Stuff it !  Tweak it !

Hey fellow foodies… here are my tips on getting the most of your stuffing experience….

— I don’t ever put stuffing inside my turkey, I just cook it in a separate dish!  Why?  Because there is a slight risk of salmonella if the turkey is under cooked.  By placing stuffing inside the turkey you’re creating longer and unreliable cooking times.  Don’t risk turning a holiday into a sick day.

—Here are some tweaks I have done with test recipes!

1. Stuffing muffins: basically take your favorite stuffing recipe and cook it in a well greased muffin cups instead. baking time will be shorter so keep an eye on them.  But now you have individual servings!

2. Hollow out a pumpkin or any other favorite squash (acorn would be fun too!) and bake the stuffing in the squash! This is a great pairing with stuffing that has the flavors of sage, maple or even apples!

3. Add ins: Doctor up a simple stuffing by adding apples, pears, maple sausage, bacon or pancetta!  Raisins, crasins and water chestnuts are also great too!

Finally, we have the last crew member giving some tips:

THE BIG RAGU’S TAKE ON STUFFING: Go Italian with it.

The Big Ragu says “here is my super duper, top secret, family recipe for Italian style stuffing that is versatile, quick and easy.”

This recipe, developed by my mom, is used regularly by our family for turkey stuffing, stuffed artichokes, stuffed mushrooms and even stuffed clams.  I have tweaked it in my own special way, but basically it comes down to …. the “butter drizzle” at the end.

ITALIAN STYLE STUFFING RECIPE:

Oyster Stuffing, Ready for the Oven at Big Ragu's home

Oyster Stuffing, Ready for the Oven at Big Ragu’s home

Ingredients: 1 Loaf of Bread, 2 Eggs, 2 TBS Minced Garlic, 3 dashes of garlic powder, 3 dashes black pepper, 1 can of chicken broth (14oz), 2 TBS dried Oregano, 2 TBS Basil (dried or fresh), and a stick of melted butter or 2.

Directions:  Whirl a loaf of bread in a food processor (Ragu normally uses Wonder Bread) or chip a loaf of bread by hand into silver dollar size pieces.  Place bread into a big mixing bowl.  Add eggs and spices and mix by hand, no.. really, using your hand and fingers.  All the time slowly adding chicken broth until stuffing is mixed and slightly wet.   The stuffing is best cooked in a casserole dish at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.  *** The final and maybe most important step: Right before serving, drizzle some hot, melted butter over the top of the dressing.

Want Oyster Suffing (Dressing)?  Use the above recipe and add a pint or quart of raw oysters, depending on how much of a seafood lover you are.

But Ragu, you say… “You didn’t put the stuffing in the turkey?”

NOPE.. I always cook it in a separate dish.

Here is what I stuff all turkeys with: Equal amounts of lemon halves and quartered onions.  I stuff them in until they are bursting out.  But I never eat the onions or lemons.
