The Holy Grail of Beer Fests

July 14, 2017 By Kevin Gray

The end of July brings the annual Belgian Ale and Food Festival. Arguably the most underrated beer fest in the Miami Valley, this event brings a treasure trove of Belgian and Belgian-inspired beers to the majestic and historic Miami Valley Golf Club on July 29th from 4-7 pm.

The affair is intimate in scale but features a staggering 21 different beers, including Trappist ales from La Trappe and Spencer (the only U.S.-based Trappist brewery), Belgian mainstays like Rodenbach, Duvel, and Boon, and New World interpretations from Unibroue, Ommegang, and Dogfish Head. The Miami Valley shows off its Belgian-style chops, too, with beers from Fifth Street Brew Pub, Toxic Brew, Mother Stewart’s, Woodburn, and more.

The club’s Art Deco-style ballroom provides an ornate backdrop for the tasting, which maxes out at 200 people. The Belgian food menu, selected to pair with the beers, adds to the elegance of the room and the ales. The food is included with the ticket price and, like the beer menu, provides a sampling of the best of Belgium. Nibble on cheese and sausages, or go for something heftier like the Gratin of Brussel Sprouts, the Flemish Ragout of Rabbit, or the Belgian standard, Steamed Mussels. Satisfy your sweet tooth with Liege Waffles—pearl sugar waffle bars with fruits, flavored whipped cream, and syrup.

For the last six years, the event has raised funds for the Salem Avenue Peace Corridor, a community group dedicated to the redevelopment of the neighborhoods along Salem Avenue. The groups’ efforts have helped stabilize the area, in part through the money raised by this event. Organizer Jule Rastikis explains that, “The whole corridor is maturing–it keeps evolving.” As a result, Rastikis’ group is able to be more targeted in their efforts, this time focusing on branding of the neighborhoods. “One of the things that the event helps is that the Peace Corridor is doing a Gateway sign. It’s going to be at the corner of Salem and Riverview.” (You can see a rendering of the sign, and get tickets to the event, at www.baffdayton.com.)

A portion of ticket sales also help kickstart the Gem City Market, a food co-op grocery store planned for Dayton’s west side. The Gem City Market seeks to end the food desert on that side of the river and will function much like other cooperatively owned stores. It will be open to the public, but members will receive discounts. Think REI or Fifth Street Brew Pub, but with apples and oranges, not backpacks and pints—although if Rastikis has his way, a brewery won’t be far behind. “The Northwest Dayton market is an untapped resource,” he explains “There are 22,000 people in the area, so we’re trying to let beer people know–distributors, brewers, that, look, it would be pretty smart to get involved here.”

You can get involved by purchasing tickets at www.baffdayton.com. Tickets are $50 each ($40 for designated drivers who are eating but not drinking) Attendees can also purchase raffle tickets to win the Holy Grail of Trappist Beer—a basket stuffed Trappist beers and glassware, including the coveted Westvleteren 12.

Want A Souvenir Of Rue Dumaine? Auction Now Live!

July 13, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

While Rue Dumaine closed its doors for service earlier this month, the doors are not closed yet closed for good at this Washington Township restaurant.

Chef Anne Kearney shared in her e-newsletter today that the auction site is now live and equipment, tables, chairs, mirrors, plates and more are all up for sale now via an online auction being conducted by Worley Auctioneers.  Some of the contents have already been sold, Chef shared with us on our last visit to the famed eatery that Chef Maria from Nibbles is furnishing her new place in Miamisburg with some kitchen equipment.  A restaurant regular bought most of the finer stem ware for his own entertaining.

To take a look at the six page listings of what is available, click here.   The  restaurant auction closes, beginning at 2 pm on July 19th. Every minute, 10 items will close.

Chef Anne says, “Above you will find a few of the beloved illustrations that adorned the walls of our restaurant thru the past 10 years. Rather than choose 1 of you to receive these beauties I have asked that you bid on the site then come to retrieve your goods on July 20th. I am honored to know that these silly drawings will be on the walls of your home.

Prepare yourself if you intend to stop in for the walk-thru day (July 18th) as the bar as just been dismantled in addition to the wine cellar, that was a tough one to witness.

Even if your not a food industry person there are several items available thru the auction site that may find a place in your home: copious amount of storage containers, countless beer glassware, gorgeous griddle atop a wheeled table, 5 wood barrels (Evan used numerous times for barrel aging), ginger beer snap-top bottles, votive holders….the list goes on and on.”

And while this is just the final task to close the doors on Rue Dumaine, Chef Anne still hasn’t made public here plans for what’s next in her life, but has shared that it will probably take her away from the Miami Valley.  Wherever she lands, we wish her well and hope she’ll find some time for her!

But she has shared that she’d like to come back in a few years and do it again.  We sure hope so!

DAYTON LITERARY PEACE PRIZE TO HONOR COLM TÓIBÍN

July 13, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Irish novelist, journalist, and essayist Colm Tóibín, whose fiction and nonfiction captures in heartbreaking detail the impact of exile and political conflict on individual lives, will receive the 2017 Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, organizers of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize announced today.

Named in honor of the celebrated U.S. diplomat who played an instrumental role in negotiating the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords that ended the war in Bosnia, the award will be presented to Tóibín at the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Gala on November 5th. Founded in 2005, The Dayton Literary Peace Prize is the only international literary peace prize awarded in the United States. It honors writers whose work uses the power of literature to foster peace, social justice, and global understanding. The Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes authors for their complete body of work.

Born in Ireland in 1955, Colm Tóibín is widely recognized as one of today’s greatest living writers. His experiences as a gay man, an expatriate, and an international journalist have shaped his novels, which often explore themes of exile, homecoming, and reconciliation.

Tóibín spent his early twenties as an expatriate in Spain, where he witnessed the country’s return to democracy after decades of dictatorship and found the inspiration for his 1990 debut novel, The South. As a journalist he traveled to South America in the 1980s, which he later captured in his 1996 novel The Story of the Night, the story of a gay man coming of age in Argentina during the Falklands War. Three of his novels – The Blackwater Lightship (1999), about three generations of estranged Irish women coming together to care for a son who is dying of AIDS, The Master (2004), which explored the later life of Henry James, including his feelings of guilt and regret over his homosexuality, and The Testament of Mary (2012) – were short-listed for the Man Booker Prize. Other notable works include the novels Brooklyn (2009), which was adapted into a 2015 film nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, and House of Names (2017), which explores how violence begets further acts of violence through a reimagination of the story of Clytemnestra. Tóibín is also the author of several nonfiction works, including 1987’s Bad Blood, which documents Tóibín’s summer-long walk along the violence-plagued border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and the 2002 essay collection Love in a Dark Time: Gay Lives from Wilde to Almodovar.

“Colm Tóibín’s work invites readers to contemplate the deep sadness of exile – from mother or brother, from nation, from oneself – to understand how accidents of geography and family shape identity, and how quirks of circumstance can harden or soften hearts,” said Sharon Rab, founder and co-chair of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Foundation. “The surprising turns in his fiction and nonfiction that illustrate the longings and complexity of his characters, even those whose actions we may deplore, remind us of our shared humanity and offer the possibility of reconciliation or simply of understanding, which are the first steps to making peace.”

Tóibín shared the following statement on winning the Holbrooke Prize:

“Our task as writers is to work on our sentences, pay close attention to the rhythm, texture and tone of prose. Mostly, our books will be read silently, as they are written silently. Our aim is to reach the reader’s imagination, have an effect on the nervous systems of other people. In ways that are both powerful and mysterious a book or a story can deepen the complexity of who we are in the world, how we feel, offering no easy resolutions, no simple images. Through fiction, we learn to see others. The page is not a mirror. It is blank when I start to write, but it contains a version of the world when I finish. It is there for others to be inspired by. Slowly then, a sentence or set of sentences that have their own integrity, their own sense of balance, their own striving towards worth, can become a sonorous metaphor for much else, including for how we might live in the world, how we might see others, what we might do. Good writing thus has elements and undercurrents that are moral as much as aesthetic. Good sentences offer us a way to imagine life in all its strangeness and ambiguity and possibility, alert us to the power of the imagination to transform and transcend our nature, offer us a blueprint not only for who we are but for who we might be, who we might become.”

Tóibín will join the ranks of past winners of the Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, formerly called the Lifetime Achievement Award, including Studs Terkel (2006), Elie Wiesel (2007), Taylor Branch (2008), Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn (2009), Geraldine Brooks (2010), Barbara Kingsolver (2011), Tim O’Brien (2012), Wendell Berry (2013), Louise Erdrich (2014), Gloria Steinem (2015), and Marilynne Robinson (2017) .

Finalists for the 2017 Dayton Literary Peace Prize will be announced on September 13, 2017.

Send Fronana To A Friend

July 13, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Robert Walker lived on a beer and pizza diet while making his way through pilot school and the PT tests were starting to become a struggle. So he decided to adopt a paleo diet, yet still craved ice cream. Being a bit of a scientist, he started experimenting, using his love for banana’s as an inspiration.

What he created is an all natural dairy free alternative to ice cream that is made out of bananas! With no added sugar or artificial ingredients, made with wholesome and healthy fruit without any fillers like other ice creams. It’s totally gluten free, totally vegan, totally paleo, and according to local reviews,  totally delicious Fronana!

In July of 2014 the Air Force Veteran  launched FronanaMobile, showing up at festivals and events all over town, encouraging folks to try his frozen treat. The frozen treats were toted all over town with the pedal power of Fronana employees, supporting the healthy life style Walker promotes.

In July of 2015 he launched his scoop shop,  through the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s Activated Spaces program, located at 27 W 1st Street.  Fronana also started showing up in grocery stores like Fresh Thyme and Dorothy Lane Market. Flavors include Wildberry Whirl, FroMocha, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Dark Chocolate and Mango Pineapple, with more flavors being added often.

With Fronana’s 3rd anniversary coming up on National Ice Cream Day, and the help of a  Kiva, a nonprofit crowd-lending organization, that helped them with a $10,000 loan, they’ve just launched their Online Scoop Shop.   With $2,000 for site design, search engine optimization and ongoing support of site. The remaining $7,000 will be used to setup packaging and nationwide fulfillment. These items include creating punch plates for Fronanagram shipping boxes, purchasing print screens and print setup fees.  This Kiva Loan allows them to ship 1,000 Fronanagrams and generate over $50,000 in revenue.

The site is live and you can now share the Fronana experience, invented and hand crafted one pint at a time  in Dayton, with friends and family all over the country.

To send a Fronanagram, just log on, pick out your flavors, themed 4 packs like the Berry Lovers Pack, the Breakfast Pack, the Super Smoothie Kit, the Mango Lover pack are available to make your selection easy, or shop by individual flavor.  Two day shipping will run you $14.95.

The Books Are Back- Won’t Be Long For New Library Opening!

July 12, 2017 By Dayton Most Metro

The New Main Library in downtown Dayton is in the final weeks of preparation before the Grand Opening & Community Celebration on Saturday, August 5, 12-5 pm.

Nearly three miles of fixed shelving have been installed in the new Library. Now, more than 335,000 volumes will be put in place. Collections that had been stored at the Westwood Branch and Gentile Building during construction, as well as the collectionthat had been available to the public at the Temporary Downtown Branch, are taking their places on the shelves.

The Temporary Downtown Branch was closed last week in order to move the collection out. It reopened on Monday with service limited to public computer access and pick-up of materials on hold only. It will close permanently to the public on Wednesday, August 2, at 6:00 p.m.

Special Collections (Local History and Genealogy materials) are being settled into their new space in The Dayton Room on the Main Library’s second floor. Special Collections include vintage books and materials that require special care in handling. The Dayton Room also features flatbed and cradle scanner/copiers that visitors can use to digitize and preserve their own family documents.

“At the old Main Library, Special Collections were tucked away in the basement,” said Jamie McQuinn, Special Collections Manager. “We are looking forward being in the new Main Library, where Genealogy and Dayton History have a prominent, convenient location on the second floor. Researchers will love our new spaces.”

Also this week, more than 2,200 pieces of new furniture are being set up and arranged throughout the building. From desks and tables to comfortable chairs and couches, the new Main Library will be filled with bright, functional new furnishings.

For more information on the Dayton Metro Library’s facilities improvement projects, go to DaytonMetroLibrary.org or call (937) 463-BOOK.

Saluting Dayton’s 2016-17 Theater Season

July 12, 2017 By Russell Florence, Jr.

Productions centered on a sadistic barber wreaking havoc in Victorian London, stubborn Iowans forever changed by a charming con artist, America coping with race relations in turn of the century New York and 1960s Baltimore, a progressive novice sending shockwaves throughout a Catholic elementary school, an iconic record company reshaping the landscape of American music, and a legendary ship deemed unsinkable were among the best of Dayton’s 2016-17 theater season.

On professional stages, the Human Race Theatre Company’s 30th anniversary season was memorably illuminated by Scott Stoney’s immersive, ensemble-friendly Sweeney Todd (attended on opening night by Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg of The Social Network) and the local premiere of Hail Mary!, a pleasantly surprising and gently thought-provoking character study. Hail Mary! was specifically bolstered by Claire Kennedy’s masterfully complex portrayal of a woman challenging authority for the betterment of her students.

Elsewhere, the Victoria Theatre Association offered outstanding national tours with Motown particularly rising to the top thanks to a splendidly versatile, crowd-pleasing cast. Dare to Defy Productions gave local talent exciting platforms to rediscover and reinterpret tried and true material (Mackensie King’s Children of Eden strikingly emphasized family ties and generational repercussions as never before). Female-centric Magnolia Theatre Company offered a riveting local premiere of tense parent-teacher conference drama Gidion’s Knot. Reliably edgy Playground Theatre delivered a local premiere of Jailbait overflowing with gripping realism as its searing account of love, deceit and embracing adulthood stirred to the core.

At community theaters, strong musicals as well as a fine balance of classic and contemporary fare enticed. Dayton Theatre Guild’s eclectic impulses served them well with local premieres of The Last Lifeboat, Luna Gale and Wonder of the World (heightened by sitcom savvy knockout Kari Carter) in addition to a mesmerizing Elephant Man accented by Jared Mola’s remarkable physicality. Dayton Playhouse scored with Ragtime, The Women, Xanadu, and another enjoyably competitive FutureFest (last year’s winner Shepherd’s Bush is now titled Nonsense and Beauty; powerfully acted Memories of the Game was named audience favorite). Senior-themed Young at Heart Players delighted with the overdue return of the adorable First Kisses, a 2003 FutureFest finalist. Brookville Community Theatre supplied a whimsically entertaining Beauty and the Beast. Beavercreek Community Theatre’s artistic risks paid off with a lovely, vocally impressive Nine (brought to life by Jeffrey Murphy in the vibrantly elegant spirit of original director Tommy Tune) and a commendable local premiere of Bonnie and Clyde.

Highlights from area colleges included Wright State University’s tap-happy No, No, Nanette and beautifully staged/designed Shakespearean play-with-music Restoration!, Cedarville University’s rousing and heartwarming Music Man, and Sinclair Community College’s darkly atmospheric Dracula. Other notables across the city included the Muse Machine’s tremendously feel-good Hairspray (featuring marvelously mature newcomer Fischer Barnett), Epiphany Lutheran Church’s better-than-Broadway Big Fish (expertly conceived by Megan Wean Sears), and under-the-radar-but-dynamic Standing on Ceremony (Sinclair), Hello Again (Wright State), and Four Women: A Tribute to Nina Simone & The Black Arts Movement (Oral Funk Poetry Productions and University of Dayton).

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with These Freebies

July 12, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Thousands of years ago, people in the Persian Empire would put snow in a bowl, pour grape-juice concentrate over it and eat it as a treat.  They did this when the weather was hot and used the snow saved in the cool-keeping underground chambers known as “yakhchal”, or taken from the snowfall that remained at the stop of mountains by the summer capital.

Luckily today, there are many more flavors and it’s a little easier to get ice cream year round.  In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month and established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the month of July.

Here’s a roundup of places you can get free ice cream to celebrate National Ice Cream Day, today July 16th:

Baskin Robbins-Get a free samples of its popular Polar Pizza from Noon – 5:00 p.m. at participating Baskin-Robbins locations on 7/14. In addition to the Polar Pizza Sampling on July 14, Baskin-Robbins is giving its guests several ways to enjoy National Ice Cream Month. For starters, guests who download the Baskin-Robbins Mobile App will receive exclusive offers on National Ice Cream Day (Sunday, July 16) and throughout the month.

Dippin’ Dots: Get one free mini cup at  Dippin’ Dots at The Mall at Fairfield Commons today from 12-2pm.  This store recently moved from the first floor to the 2nd, across from the food court

McDonald’s: Use the McDonald’s mobile app to redeem the offer for a free vanilla soft serve cone. If you participate in the promotion from 2 to 5 p.m., you’ll have the possibility of being the one lucky winner of a lifetime supply of McDonald’s soft serve.

Not free, but still a deal:

Graeter’s– Wants to thank their loyal fans, for keeping them in business for over 147 years with $1.47 single dip sugar cones on Sunday, July 16th!

Wendy’s – Get a classic Wendy’s Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty for only 50 cents through Aug. 25

Whole Foods: Get all Ben & Jerry’s pints for two for $6. There will also be in-store “Sundae Fundae” sampling events and make-your-own sweet treats in select stores nationwide, so check your location for details.

And even dogs get to celebrate National Ice Cream Day:

PetSmart:  This pet store is handing out free Doggie Ice Cream Sundaes — dog-safe vanilla ice cream topped with a dog biscuit sprinkle — at its PetSmart PetsHotel locations nationwide.

2 Hot New Films at THE NEON – THE BIG SICK and THE HERO

July 11, 2017 By Jonathan McNeal

Hello Everyone!

We’re moving forward in a big way this weekend. If you still need to see THE BEGUILED or BEATRIZ AT DINNER, Thursday will be your last chance to catch them at THE NEON. You also have one last chance to catch Cate Blanchett in MANIFESTO on Wednesday evening. On Friday, we’ll officially begin two hot, new films – THE BIG SICK and THE HERO. (We’ll have a special preview screening of THE BIG SICK on Thursday evening with 10 extra bonus minutes of stand-up from cast members of the film.)

Synopsis for THE BIG SICK: This is the best reviewed romantic comedy in a long, long time. Critics and audiences alike are loving this film, and it’s currently rated “97% Fresh” on rottentomatoes.com! “Based on the real-life courtship between Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, THE BIG SICK tells the story of Pakistan-born aspiring comedian Kumail (Nanjiani), who connects with grad student Emily (Kazan) after one of his standup sets. However, what they thought would be just a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing, which complicates the life that is expected of Kumail by his traditional Muslim parents. When Emily is beset with a mystery illness, it forces Kumail to navigate the medical crisis with her parents, Beth and Terry (Holly Hunter and Ray Romano) who he’s never met, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart. THE BIG SICK is directed by Michael Showalter (HELLO MY NAME IS DORIS) and producer by Judd Apatow (TRAINWRECK, THIS IS 40) and Barry Mendel (TRAINWRECK, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS).” (Lionsgate) Click HERE to visit the film’s official site.

Synopsis for THE HERO: Many of our regulars keep asking “When is that Sam Elliott movie coming?” Well it’s finally here! “Lee Hayden (Sam Elliott) is an aging Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy (Nick Offerman), until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte (Laura Prepon), and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter), all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy.” (The Orchard)

Joseph Bargdill of Broken Lamp Productions has rented our space to premiere his new film INCRUENTUS on Thursday, July 27. “Zoe finds herself trapped in a web of lies while she turns into a Vampire. Will she die or be sucked into a web of trickery from her husband and friends or overcome the poison of her infection? INCRUENTUS will have its world premier on July 27th at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased now for $7 at THE NEON’s box office. The film will be introduced and followed by a Q&A with the director and producer.” (Broken Lamp Productions)

Dayton filmmaker Alfred Powell is premiering his new documentary with us on Sunday, August 6 at 5:30. “WE BELIEVE IN US is an intriguing true story of a once prominent inner city football power located on the southwest side of Dayton. In a breathtaking manner this raw documentary brilliantly transports you through the daily saga and life a young black coach and his staff and his players during their unpredictable 2015 season. This story simultaneously captures the realism of generational poverty, stigma, stereotypes, and promise while embracing the power of hope and survival. Dunbar High School – where disappointment is often undefeated – provoked this team to make a promise to themselves. When no one else in the world believes in us…We Believe In Us.” (press notes) Tickets are $5 each and are currently available at THE NEON’s Box Office.

Thanks so much for your continued support.
We hope to see you soon,
Jonathan

Sad News From Arcanum

July 11, 2017 By Lisa Grigsby

Chef Jeff Besecker opened this restaurant in the quaint village of Arcanum in spring of 2014.  Known for their from scratch, rustic recipes and bringing live entertainment, cooking classes and more to this rural location in Darke County, this 38 seat eatery became destination dining.  “At The Old Arcana, we believe in food and music that nourish the body and the soul,” says Chef Besecker.

But like all good things, it’s coming to the end.

Here’s the message he sent out today:

Our beautiful historic building has recently been sold and will soon have a brand new use. We’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have visited with us, championed us and allowed us to feed you. Your patronage and friendship has been greatly appreciated.

The last day of business for at The Old Arcana will be this Sun, July 16th.

Jeff goes on to say he’s always heard from people that “if this place were only in (Dayton, Troy, Cinci, Columbus, Pheonix, insert your more urban, traffic-heavy foodie location here), it would be KILLING IT!”  He agrees and says this may be the perfect business opportunity for someone to continue the business.  Contact him if you’re interested.

He also hints that he’ll  be serving up some amazing food and recipes ONLINE and suggests we stay tuned for more info.  We sure will!

Belmont Grows Together with a Party in the Park

July 10, 2017 By Dayton Most Metro

The Mural Machine’s Wayne Avenue Mural

After a great response from their South Park community mural along Wayne Avenue, The Mural Machine will be working with the Belmont Eastmont Hearthstone Community Council for a Mural Painting Party in the Park at Nordale Park in Belmont on Sunday, August 13.

“It was so exciting to see their murals being painted all over Dayton,” said Kim Petro, member of the Belmont Eastmont Hearthstone Community Council. “We’d already been talking with Etch and Tiffany about doing a mural on the pavilion at Nordale Park and we’re even more excited to have them come to Belmont now!”

More than just a day of community mural painting, the Mural Painting Party in the Park will feature sports tournaments, local artisan vendors, door prizes, a 50/50 raffles, and popular local food trucks.

“Doing a mural in the park, we wanted to make the day into a party for the whole community,” said Reggie Swickard, board member of the Belmont Eastmont Hearthstone Community Council. “In addition to the mural painting we’re going to have vendors, sports tournaments, food trucks will be on hand, door prizes, raffles and a whole lot more!

The Mural Machine and Volunteers working hard on the Wayne Avenue Mural

Belmont is an amazing neighborhood and we want to take a day to celebrate that while beautifying one of our great parks!”

Zombie Dogs and The Drunken Waffle will be serving food all day long and local artisan vendors are encouraged to submit applications at https://daytonfun.wufoo.com/forms/zu3q7110dk837z/.

Basketball, kickball and disc golf tournaments will be announced in advance, in addition to other details, all at www.facebook.com/BelmontEastmontHearthstoneCommunityCouncil/.

“Belmont is affordable and friendly. Not only is it close to a number of great businesses and recreation areas in Dayton, it’s home to quite a few of them,” Petro said. “We’re putting the spotlight on all of that. It’s going to be an awesome event!”

The first raised beds of the Nordale Community Garden

Money raised will be used to offset mural costs in addition to help fund the growing community garden in the park.

A park clean-up will be held on Aug 12th in preparation for the Mural Painting Party in the Park. Volunteers are needed and you can contact Reggie Swickard at [email protected] for more details.

This is a free event that is open to anyone of any age! For more information check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BelmontEastmontHearthstoneCommunityCouncil/
