Live music, food, dancing, family activities and more will be part of the free event, a sneak peek of upcoming cultural festivals.

Musicians and dancers representing the Dayton Celtic Festival, Hispanic Heritage Festival, Dayton African American Cultural Festival and Germanfest Picnic will perform on the RiverScape Pavilion stage. The entertainment schedule is:

6 PM: The Sauer Brats

7 PM: The Celtic Academy of Irish Dance

7:30 PM: The McGovern Ceili Dancers

8 PM: Kuumba Drama Drum and Dance

9 PM: Rondalla Puerto Rico

From 6 to 8 PM, visit more than a dozen vendor booths hosting games and activities that feature the upcoming festivals and the variety of recreation, education, conservation and volunteer programs Five Rivers MetroParks offers. Activities include:

  • Meet MetroParks’ live animal ambassadors
  • Participate in such games as a lifejacket relay and a veggie relay
  • Learn more about upcoming events and things to do in each MetroPark

Complete at least seven activities to have a Passport to MetroParks stamped — and enter to win one of three exclusive outdoor adventures. A Five Rivers MetroParks staff expert will lead the winners and three of their friends or family members on an outdoor experience, including a chance to learn how to mountain bike, fly fish, camp, take a nature hike or ride horseback.

Throughout the event from 6 to 10 PM, Mexican, Spanish, Asian, German and Southern cuisine will be available from the food truck lineup: Pa’s Pork, DFish DChicken, El Meson, Kleinfelder Hots & Brats and Billie Gold Bubble Tea.

Panera Launches Cookie Fundraiser

June 3, 2019 By Dayton Most Metro

Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread, launched a fundraising campaign Monday to support relief efforts in the Dayton area following the Memorial Day tornado outbreak.  The “Chip in for Dayton” campaign will be run at nearly  100 Panera Bread locations in Dayton, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky and Central Ohio. During the fundraising campaign, 25 cents from every cookie sold at those Panera locations will be donated to the Greater Dayton Disaster Relief Fund of The Dayton Foundation.

Covelli is also raising funds at its Dayton and central Ohio locations during the entire month of June through its Change Roll-up campaign. Covelli also donated 35,000 bottle of water to The Foodbank on May 31st.

“We’re doing all we can to help the situation in our Dayton-area neighborhoods, and we invite all other community stakeholders to do the same,” Sam Covelli, owner and operator of Covelli Enterprises, said. “Our goal is to give the people in the region as many ways to get involved in the relief effort as possible. We want the families affected to know they have our support and they are not alone in this.”

The “Chip in for Dayton” campaign is good for any kind of cookie sold at Panera.

St Louis Man Wins Submarine House Contest

June 3, 2019 By Dayton937 Leave a Comment

He is done ! 1 min 34 seconds!

This was a Food Adventure to remember, and our crew was on hand to judge the epic clash of huge subs and humanity in the name of charity.

2019 CHEESESTEAK CHAMPION CROWNED

A nationally known competitive eater swooped into Dayton to win the 2019 Super Duper Cheesesteak Championship on Saturday. The Submarine House’s annual eating contest was won by St Louis native Brandon “Da Garbage Disposal” Clark.  He took he title for the 2nd year in a row.  He ate the 16 inch, Super Duper Cheesesteak, with triple the cheese and triple the meat in 1 minute and 34 seconds.  The sandwich was topped with “The Works.”  A close second was Steve Howard, a local Daytonian and past champ.

16 inches of the SUPER DUPER CHEESESTEAK

The contest featured the fastest cheesesteak eaters as timed at each location at the store championships.  Former champions such at Kris Mick and Clayton Naylor rounded out the toughest group of competitors to date.

Brandon Clark stunned the crowd in 2018 when he blew away the record time and ate the sandwich in 1 minute and 14 seconds.  The previous record at that time was just under 2 minutes.  The Garbage Disposal did not disappoint in 2019,

Big Crowd on hand to watch !

winning the contest with 2nd best time ever recorded.  “Da Garbage Disposal” is gaining national fame for his traveling and eating challenges, and his YouTube Channel is approaching 22 thousand subscribers.  He even has a video with him and YouTube Eating Challenge star “Atlas” taking on a 15 egg omelette.

SUBMARINE HOUSE DONATES $35,000 to PINK RIBBON GIRLS

When reality hits !

The championship was held Saturday June 1st at the Centerville Submarine House Grille and Bar location.  All proceeds went to the Pink Ribbon Girls.  Even more impressive that the eating contest, was that Submarine House locations donated $35,000 to the Pink Ribbon Girls.  This means that over the past 3 years, Pink Ribbon Girls charity has received over $100,000 from this event!!  This was the 9th annual event, with the first 6 years benefiting Children’s Medical Center of Dayton.

THINK YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN THE CHALLENGE ?

Plans are already gearing up for next year’s challenge – stay tuned to Dayton Most Metro and Food Adventures blog for information on next year’s even that will begin in March 2020.  Contestants can qualify next year at

Check presented to Pink Ribbon Girls for $35,000

each and every Submarine House location through mid May, 2020, then store championship and finals will be announced.  Thanks to those who supported the event.  Superstars like Jason and Brody Danner who own the franchise are amazing.  As are Centerville Store Owner Jeremy McDaniel and Marketing Director Kelsey Terhune.  You were the real champions this day.

Saturday Tornado Relief Efforts

June 1, 2019 By LIbby Ballengee

SATURDAY JUNE 1 TORNADO DONATION & VOLUNTEER UPDATE

Thank YOU to everyone who has been helping their neighbors this week, and to everyone who has been at work and unable to assist – WELCOME! You are needed!

Important things to keep in mind:

  1. There has been an outpouring of donations this week, and everyone is so grateful! However it is becoming overwhelming for many locations at this time. They need volunteers to help sort and organize supplies so they can get them to people in need. This weekend, let’s focus on volunteerism. NOTE: Donations are going to continue to be needed in weeks to come.
  2. All of Montgomery County’s water has been restored and is no longer under a boil advisory. Donations of water is not as critical as it was earlier this week. Donations are still being accepted (see below for list of locations).
  3. If you get to a location to help or donate, and they turn you away – try not to get discouraged. The outpouring of donations is a good thing, and you are serving others simply by showing up and demonstrating you care. At the very least, say “That’s OK! We can find another place in need. We care about you.” That goes a long way!
  4. Please be patient with those of us who are coordinating efforts. We are doing our best to keep up with the shifting needs and locations. If you don’t know where or what to do, keep reading below – or just get into a ravaged neighborhood and make yourself useful!
